Commentary: The Fuplers, Mom on Facebook

by Matt Koval on June 24, 2010

Not that The Fuplers are any sort of cinematic masterpiece, but I thought you might be interested in hearing where this particular idea came from, as well as how to shoot a one-person-show. Here’s the original video.

This is the first of many videos I’ll be making for my blog only. Thanks for tuning in! (And thanks for sitting through the ads – they help support my flicks.)

No Facebook freeze issues once I discovered groups.

Until the timeline and previous versions of Facebook, though, it became a chore to set the privacy per post according to those groups. Now, it’s a snap, but I already dealt with the issue another way.

Now, I just have two groups: family plus roommate and public (which isn’t actually a group). I do enough Active Directory management at work and really don’t wanna do the same online. I occasionally talked with about 5 others that live far away, but I don’t need a friends list for that. Facebook’s now mostly for my sister and dad who are two states away (and who, then, inform my mom and brother).

Yet, a famous personality might not have the luxury of a highly exclusive friends list. Simple close-friends/family, general non-stalker and public (stalker) groups might be the answer instead of the complicated categories that I once had.

I’d like to get hints and tips on filmmaking. I’ve just been doing basic editing on my iMovie but would like to do more with my limited abilities. I also act, so just like you, I’d like to start out doing a one-person video short.
